On Friday, I was off from work because it was good Good Friday so I went to the JCC first thing in the morning. I swam, played basketball, and worked out. Afterward, I received a call from Je asking to go with her and Sl to check out Cal State Long Beach. We biked over there for a cool 5-mile ride and saw the Japanese gardens, their workout gym, and the bowling alley they have. It was cosmic bowling with lights and music. We played two games and for the second game, we had a wager: whoever won would not pay for bowling. I turned up the heat in the second game and did not have to pay for bowling!! Then we bike road back to our apartments. I went to Ralph’s to pick up some desert for the dinner they were making being healthy vanilla ice cream and chocolate macaroons. For dinner, they made this purple potato pie and mushroom, onion oatmeal mush, a salad, matzah ball soup and salmon. It was amazing! Good food and good people. Afterwards, I met up with Mi and Dr and myself went to Sega Genocide which is an amazing band that plays emo type music but just the bangers at the Wayfarer in Costa Mesa. We stayed there, mingled with some people and then went to the Grasshopper bar. There, we danced alittle, Dr danced with this swinger who wanted to get us to swing and I danced with an old friend. We ended up leaving from there and checked out the Good Bar near us but it was dead. I then dropped off Mi and called it a night.
Saturday I woke up and worked out my legs at my place. I then had a meetup planned with Sa in DTLA. We were going to have Korean BBQ at Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong. Last minute, Sl called and said he wanted in. I drove us to DTLA and we went to Korean BBQ. It was three courses of pork and all of the most amazing sides one could ask for. It was endless refills on sides. The pork was actually some of the best meat I have ever eaten. Afterwards, we went for a walk in DTLA to the Broad, an amazing art museum but it was closed. The walk was really quite spectacular though and here’s why: 1) We saw a hornet’s nest on a scooter. There must have been 500 bees all over this thing. I have never seen anything like it. 2) We saw a Korean wedding happening outside with one of the hottest brides I’ve seen. We then walked back to Sa place and watched an episode of South Park, the one where Eric Kartmen kills his friend’s parents and makes his friend eat his parents. Sl took an edible that Sa had lying around. We then left Sa place and went to this Marijuana event. The place was half indoor and half outdoor with smoke everywhere and free dabbing at almost every station. It was smokers paradise except, I don’t smoke. I actually started to get high while walking around the place and I had an instant state of panic in the lower part of my stomach. I told Sloane that I had to get out of there as I didn’t want to get high. We left there and went to an art exhibit party. This party was in a bad area of downtown LA where we saw masked bicyclists riding around everywhere and the line was not moving. We gave it 30 minutes of waiting online until we called it. We drove home and I got back just in time to see Dr bring over a girl. She was pretty loud which was funny and ended up staying the night. I got a great night of sleep though.
Sunday I went to the JCC and did swimming, gym, and sauna. I listened to Peter Attia’s book Outlive during my workout and learned about being prepared to come up with a strategy before being able to execute. It is basically like how the book mentioned Ali going up against the younger, more powerful Foreman. Ali thought that George Foreman would get mad if he hit Foreman in the face a few times with some light jabs which he did. He then used most of his energy and power to hit Ali hard throughout the first four or so rounds. Ali trained to be able to take those hits so after Foreman got tired, Ali started using his speed to tire out Foreman even more causing an 8th round knockout. He came with a strategy and then executed which is how we will work on killing life. After that, I went home and Dr then texted Sl and I to meet him to go play volleyball with his date. We did and had fun. Finally, we went back and Dr and I got ingredients for the Easter dinner Sl and Je were going to cook up. We made a potato salad, Sl and Je made lasagna, blue berry muffins and a cheese plate.
